Here’s a great project for using up those 2X4s – build yourself a farmhouse kitchen table! I love this entire project. It’s a relatively easy build and I just adore the thought of a huge kitchen table where family and friends can gather. If you’ve ever wanted to bring some serious farmhouse style into your home décor, this is your chance. And, you’ll save hundreds by building it yourself instead of buying it.

This mirrored coffee table is sure to be a great addition to your living room. It’s also a really easy project to build and the end result is absolutely stunning. You’ll need an old mirror, maybe from a dresser that you don’t need any longer. This one lets you use up some of those 2X4s and repurpose some old furniture at the same time. It should cost you less than $50 to make – as opposed to buying it in a furniture store for a couple hundred.
Until the craziness of the holidays is over, and I have more time to spend in the shop I’ll have to post a project from a couple months ago. Based on shanty2chic plans and assembled pretty quickly with my kregjig . . . #woodworking #wood #woodworker #diy #shanty2chic #kregjig #desk #bedroom #school #maker #makersgonnamake #makersofinstagram #furniture #furniturebuilder

If you want something really unique from those 2X4s, build these hexagon wall planters. You cut strips of the 2X4 (you only need a couple of feet for each planter) and then assemble them to hold a mason jar. Inside the mason jar, you can put all sorts of fresh flowers or plants. These are so creative and will look beautiful hanging inside your home.

Turn those 2X4s into amazing gifts for your kids’ teachers. Just cut them into blocks, maybe add some design with scrapbooking paper and then a nice little quote fit for a teacher. These are so cute and since the boards cost less than $10 each – and you get about four blocks from each board – you’re getting a unique gift for teacher for less than $3 each!

This is one of those things that you never know you need unless you have one. This amazing wooden sofa sleeve works perfectly on either or both sides of a sofa set. It gives your sofa a nice look. The sleeve can also be modified to include a cup holder, mobile holder, etc. You can easily find this item on any online furniture store, but an even better idea is to build one. This way, you can make a sofa sleeve design that you actually like and make space for cup and other things.
When neither paint nor a two-tone look is suitable, I buy unfinished stock cabinets like the ones shown in this article. Home centers usually carry one style only and one wood species only (typically oak). For the projects shown here, I used 12-in.-deep “upper” cabinets. The cabinets you find may not be exactly like mine, so you may have to alter the measurements given in my plans.

These things may be tiny in size, but building one is not that easy. It takes some serious woodworking knowledge and skill to build a nice wooden mobile stand. When I first saw one online, I just couldn’t resist thinking of buying one. But when I saw the price, I was forced to rethink. Also, a woodwork lover like me cannot be contained with just one piece and I was not willing to spend on more than one. So instead I decided to build myself one. Yes, it took some doing but the final result was satisfying. Luckily, I found this awesome tutorial online that helped me build my first ever wooden phone holder.

If you tend to love woodworking projects, this workbench is certainly something that you should build. You can get all of the supplies you need to make it for around $20, which is much cheaper than buying an already made workbench. It’s cheap and nothing that you would expect to see in a high end workshop, but it’s also sturdy and definitely gets the job done.

Here, I am writing about another DIY project that involves the use of an old furniture piece. I think that the idea of reusing and recycling old furniture has got to me. Anyways, I am starting to love it. This project involves using an old door to build a beautiful multi picture frame, as you can see in the image below. This frame looks really wonderful and can be used to hold many pictures at a time.

Slice, dice and serve in style on this easy, attractive board. We’ll show you a simple way to dry-fit the parts, scribe the arc and then glue the whole thing together. We used a 4-ft. steel ruler to scribe the arcs, but a yardstick or any thin board would also work. Find complete how-to instructions on this woodworking crafts project here. Also, be sure to use water-resistant wood glue and keep your board out of the dishwasher or it might fall apart. And one more thing: Keep the boards as even as possible during glue-up to minimize sanding later. For great tips on gluing wood, check out this collection.
You can transfer a graphic on any wood piece of your choice, including a frame, top of a table, etc. The surface should be clean and big enough for the graphic paper. I am also sharing a video tutorial here that explains in detail the process of transferring any graphic to a wooden surface using a freezer paper. Just gather the items you need and follow this video to carve your favorite designs on your favorite wood items.
